Growing up, I was drawn to punk rock because it effectively expressed the angst I felt with things like curfews and homework, to say nothing of the raging hormones of being a teenager. I loved how it questioned authority with an unapologetic attitude. I now find my inner teen punk wanting to rebel against AI, and for many reasons: It has been forced upon me in almost every digital platform (often without the ability to opt out); it is a disaster for the environment; it is dulling critical thinking, cognitive liberty, and the art of the craft; it is a political project of massive corporate authoritarian handshake for power and wealth hijacking; it is “sloppifying” and demolishing every democratic institution originally built for public benefit. Regarding the shady ethics and morals in developing AI, even the Pope agrees (Leo XIV, 2026).
